Ilmin
Museum of Art is presenting the special exhibition 《Vibe Era》 through October 25.
In
an era when a convincing feeling or effect takes the place of aesthetic
judgment and form, 《Vibe Era》 turns its
attention to contemporary abstraction as a form of imagery that has anticipated
this shift.
The four
participating artists—Park Rim, Park Junghae, Park Hyunjung, and Han
Jihyoung—experiment with abstraction as a process of exploring yet-undetermined
forms, where the body, materials, tools, and information intersect.

In
《Vibe Era》, abstraction is neither an
autonomous image detached from reality nor an effect that immediately conveys
an ambiguous feeling. The four artists determine form by engaging, in different
ways, with the image, bodily sensation, materiality, and technological tools.
Through
the choices, delays, accidents, and failures that remain rather than disappear
in this process, the exhibition examines how abstraction gives rise to new
meanings.
