The Ilwoo Foundation presents 《Nap》, a solo exhibition by Hwayeon Nam, the first winner of Ilwoo Art Award, until September 30.

In this exhibition, Nam turns her attention to naps that interrupt the productive hours of the day. The sleeping body momentarily suspends what it is supposed to be doing, slipping away from time governed by purpose and efficiency.

Through this brief departure, the artist brings into view moments when sleep and wakefulness, the everyday and hallucination, and human and natural temporalities overlap.

This solo exhibition comprises 14 video and sculptural works, including new works by Hwayeon Nam, alongside a performance piece. Videos and sculptures created at different points in the artist’s practice are presented throughout the exhibition space, where the works connect with one another through images, objects, and bodily movements.

The performance Sleep, Alone and Together will take place throughout the exhibition, while artist Jung Jihye’s performance Sincerely, will be presented every Sunday at 1:30 pm.
