Articles [Critique] Deep Gaze and Impressionism: The Cycle Between Pre-production and Post-production (Eunhee Lee, 《Mechanics of Stress》(DOOSAN Gallery Seoul, 2023)) At one time, Impressionist painters captured outdoor landscapes on canvas. The surface, reflecting the painter’s sensations shaped by weather and sunlight, came to hold flickering impressions and momentary time. Such sensations—liable to disappear at any moment—are also evident in Claude Monet’s ‘Cathedral’ series.

Exhibitions 《Pitman’s choice》, 2019.10.17 – 2019.11.17, ONE AND J. Gallery ONE AND J. Gallery presents the exhibition 《Pitman’s Choice》 from October 17 to November 17, 2019. This is Seeun Kim’s fourth solo exhibition, where she depicts leftover spaces within planned cities. It is her first solo exhibition in Korea in seven years and features works created between 2017 and 2019.

Exhibitions “Rales, wheezes and crackles” on View Through December 17, 2022, at Doosan Gallery Doosan Gallery, a nonprofit gallery located in Jongno-gu, Seoul, is presenting a special exhibition entitled Rales, wheezes and crackles until December 17, 2022. A total of 13 works, including five from the Doosan Yonkang Foundation collection, will be presented at the exhibition. The works are by seven artists born between the 1990s and 1970s, including Jiyoung Keem, Sejin Park, Joo Yeon Park, Nakhee Sung, Seung Ae Lee, Kai Oh, and Hyori Cho.

Activities Suh Yongsun Selected as MMCA ‘Artist of the Year’ The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) announced on the 30th that painter Suh Yongsun (51), known for his depictions of urban crowds and series of historical paintings, has been selected as ‘Artist of the Year 2009’.
